Activity in the automotive sector fell by 80% due to the Corona crisis.

Garages, bodyshops, tyre centres, etc. are required by law to report the odometer readings to Car-Pass on the same day they repair or service the vehicle (cars and vans). The data received by Car-Pass is therefore a reliable barometer of activity in the sector. Since last week, the workshops of companies in the automotive sector are only allowed to carry out urgent repairs. This is of course reflected in the Car-Pass figures.

If we compare the mileages received during the first 4 days of this week (23-26 March) with the same period 2 weeks ago (9-12 March), we can conclude that activity in the sector has decreased by 80%. 2 weeks ago there were still an average of 34,713 interventions per day, this week only 7,032.
The number of active companies dropped by 67%.
It is clear that the Belgian automotive sector has also been severely affected by the Corona crisis.
